Gayatri Shet - Fashion Designer

Gayatri, born in Bangalore, India, grew up with her brother in a modern Indian family. She shared the love for Indian traditional textiles with her mother who retailed Indian sarees (Indian traditional clothing). As a child, she was amazed by how royal kings and queens dressed up in clothing that had woven gold and silver encompassing rich textiles and embroidery. She would dress her dolls up as royal princesses using a beautifully made hand sewn dresses from her mother’s scrap fabrics. As an elementary school student, she won the first prize for her artwork in “All India Camlin Colour Contest”.

She went on to complete her Bachelor's in Fashion Design from NIFT, one of the top ten colleges in the world for Fashion Design. She was awarded Raymond’s scholarship for Excellence during her academic years at NIFT.

Upon graduation, she worked in a design house and later at a retail brand as her stepping stones before she went on to found her own brand for girls clothing, Fuschia Tribe Girls. It sold for four years in e-commerce sites and brick-and-mortar stores across India. When she had to relocate with her family to California, USA, she had to close operations at her brand as she could not seamlessly handle the daily activities of her Indian brand from the US. Meanwhile, she obtained a Masters in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. While achieving towards her Masters, she was honored to be on President’s Honor List every semester for her dedication, performance, and hard work.

She specializes in children's wear and women's wear with technical and design skills catering to both the markets. Being both a mother and businesswoman has taught her how to successfully multitask, problem solve, and meet deadlines always with a positive can-do attitude. Her goal has always been to consistently give her best to each and every project that she undertakes. She blends very well within the team, taking responsibilities proactively and contributing towards the success story of the team. She is an active Sustainability and Environmental thinker and is a valuable role player.
